About the Artist
Hey, I'm Bailey Olsen
I’m a born-and-raised San Diego multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer. My work is pretty much a collision between clean digital design and hyperdetailed, tactile physical making. By day, I work at Ceramic Heights as a Studio Manager and nerd out over glaze chemistry and different clay bodies! The rest of the time, I’m experimenting across a bunch of different mediums to bring weird, beautiful concepts to life.
What I Do
Ceramic Sculpture: I have a massive obsession with the natural world especially the wild textures found in local tidepools and botanical life. I sculpt hyper realistic marine creatures, plants, and studies that focus heavily on texture and anatomical detail.
Drawing and Painting: I love capturing the exact essence of life through fine lines and vivid layers. My work focuses on translating the intricate textures and organic details of the natural world from the delicate anatomy of botanicals to the complex forms of marine life into deeply immersive, highly detailed visual studies on paper and canvas.
Digital Design: With a background in graphic design, I love clean, intentional layout and visual storytelling. It’s the framework that holds all my chaotic creative projects together.
SFX & Makeup Artistry: I treat the human body like a canvas, using avant-garde character design and special effects to blur the line between traditional makeup and fine art transformation.
The Philosophy: Whether I'm working with wet clay, pixels, or prosthetics, I’m always chasing the same thing: capturing visceral, intricate details and recreating them in a way that makes you look twice.
