Chocolate Bar Packaging - Chao Cacao -
Stage 1 - Assessing Goals & Objectives
The main goal and objective behind this project is to create a chocolate package that reflects the country of origin, Ghana, in a clear and clean manner. My goal is not only to represent and emphasize the culture of Ghana but to also captivate the customer's attention to the authentic cultural aesthetics.
Stage 2 - Sketching Process
Upon experimentation I found that a bold rustic serif stroked typeface would best reflect the country of origin, Ghana. While the thin, organic and natural font captures more of an earthy feel, the font would be lost in translation in contrast to the background textiles
Stage 4 - Digital Translation Process
Stage 5 - Mockups
This initial design uses a circular framing symbol which means greatness in West African Adinkra language. The inspiration behind this piece comes from the traditional textile garment called Kente that is commonly worn in Ghana.
Stage 3 - Font Exploration Process
This design uses a variety of Ghana aesthetics including a textile print background inspired by Kente cloth which is a traditional hand woven cloth crated from strips of silk and cotton
Established in Southern Ghana this garment is often seen worn by individuals taking part in traditional ceremonies or cultural events.
